The Temple is Absolutely Gorgeous!

Well, this week went by so fast! It was such a great week full of fun and exciting things. It started off on Monday night when we had an awesome lesson with our new investigator, Jean, who is Josue’s friend. We were able to get to know him and share a little of the restoration.  We invited him to be baptized and he said, “yes!” Something that I have been trying to be exactly obedient in is inviting everyone we teach to be baptized during their first lesson. It was a great lesson. Jean also stayed for FHE that night and was able to meet more members.

The highlight of this week was last night when Jean came to the temple open house. Josue, Carlos and Javier (another less active we work with in the ward) also came. Last night was a special night set aside at the temple for all missionaries to come and go through with the people they are working with. It was just so great going through the temple with those four. They really enjoyed it. Jean loved the celestial room. We sat down for a little bit and he immediately started praying. After the tour he couldn’t stop talking about how much he loved it. It was also great for Josue and Javier to see the temple for the first time.

Another highlight from last night was being able to see Geraldine from Lemoyne. She is a recent convert that I taught a year ago.  When she came in and saw me, we just ran and embraced each other in a huge hug. I love her! It was crazy to think that a year ago I was sitting in her little apartment teaching her about temples by using a temple magazine. Now, yesterday, she got to walk through the temple for the first time. It was also heart warming to see how strong of a member she has become.

It has been so fun this last week working at the temple.  We began on Friday night. The first few days were really slow. These two days were set aside for the people in neighborhood and for people who worked on the temple. Then yesterday came and it was crazy. So many people came. There was around 350 people who walked through. The sister missionaries get to welcome people as they enter, introduce the film in the video rooms and then explain what happens next. We also get to work in the reception tent that is located at the end of the tour. In the tent we help by answering questions, encourage people to fill out comment cards, and take pictures. My favorite is being in the tent at the end. I love talking to the people and asking them about their experience and how they felt inside the temple.

There was a lovely lady who came through on Friday night that was so interested. When she found out that I was from Utah, she wanted to talk to me. She goes to Utah all the time for work. She told me that she has many Mormon friends. It was her first time at an open house and she had a wonderful experience. She was so interested that by the end of the tour, she had us go get her a Book of Mormon! It is so exciting being at the temple. It has been a long absence for me and now I get to be there almost everyday. I love it. The inside of the temple is absolutely gorgeous.

Tonight, all the sisters from the whole mission will be together in the stake center that is next to the temple.  We are going to be trained by Elder Richards of the Seventy. All the sister missionaries from Ottawa and Quebec are coming down. Sister Leon and her companion will be staying with us in our apartment and sleeping on air mattresses for the first week of the temple open house. I am so excited to see my old companion again!

This last week has just been so great.  Sister Neri and I had some amazing lessons with our investigators, Ugo, Marion and Youcef. They are all progressing so well. We had an amazing lesson with Youcef about temples. The spirit was so strong that by the end, we were all crying…haha!

I feel so blessed to be a sister missionary in this mission at this time. It is so exciting! I can see the Lord blessing us in every aspect of our work. That doesn’t mean it is always easy, but it is always worth it! We find joy through the hard and through our successes! I love you all and hope you are having a great week!

Gros Bisous,

Soeur Hunt
